Exercise Allergy

Sitting on the couch with a cold one, my hand tucked snugly into the top of my pants, watching yet another riveting episode of "Days of our Lives" simply does not appeal to me. I am a do kinda girl. If it needs doing, lets get it done and lets get it done now! Why waste time!

Lets rip up the carpet and install hardwood.
Weed whack the entire 12 acres of land the house is perched upon.
Build a deck of epic proportions.
Install a swimming pool.
Paint the house from top to bottom, inside and out.
Landscape and design a whole new garden.

Hot, sweaty and super busy.

That's me.

Miss Instant.

Not afraid of hard work.

But mention the word exercise...

You better toss me the remote because I am getting comfy and ain't nobody moving me!

Why is that?

It isn't like I am an inactive couch potato.
I rarely sit still.
In fact, I am more on the ADHD side of the scale.

Always busy doing.

And really all that work, is a form of exercise and I know it.

But call it that?

Let me over react, dig my heels in and refuse!

I think maybe part of my problem is I see exercise as a form of time wasting.

There is no pretty flower garden at the end of an hour long walk on the treadmill.
No nicely stacked pile of wood all ready for winter after a hard weight workout.

I don't see any instant physical change in front of me.

And I get mad with myself for wasting time doing something that seems to have no results.

But...

I am forgetting there are results...

And I forget because I often pay no attention to myself and my own state and too much attention to the state of things around me.

Days of our lives?

How about days of my life!

I guess I better work on that :)

  1. Katie - you see it the way I see it - and put it into words! I'm the same - I'd rather build a garden all day, hang hardiplank, tile a floor - than get on a treadmill or go to the gym - and why??? Because - while I'm bored out of my tree on the treadmill - I'm thinking of the 1001 things that I could be doing at home that need to be done - that are exercise... Yet - if I didn't do my 30 min of walk per day - I got into trouble (ahem, right Katie? LOL!) when in fact - I was exercising - just not the traditional way... LOL!
